MessiahFor many music lovers Christmas isn’t complete without attending a live performance of Messiah. Sheffield Bach Choir has been presenting Handel’s wonderful oratorio to packed audiences in Sheffield’s Anglican cathedral for many years, and is thrilled to be able to do so this year, following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions. Accompanied by the National Festival Orchestra, led by Sally Robinson and conducted by Dr Simon Lindley, this year’s performance has the added attraction of ‘outstanding‘ Sheffield rising star Ella Taylor as soprano soloist, exquisite counter tenor David Allsopp, superb tenor Joshua Ellicott and wonderful bass Peter Edge, this will be a memorable performance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Ella Taylor – Soprano

church-648430_1920Dust off your own copy of Messiah and join us in St James Church Norton for this festive come-and-sing which always attracts a good crowd. This year the singing will focus on the choruses from the nativity and resurrection sections of Handel’s wonderful oratorio,  with readings instead of arias. This jolly affair is conducted by the choir’s President Professor George Nicholson, enabling guest organist Tom Corns to work his magic on the organ. With mulled wine and mince pies in the interval, this will be an evening to remember. Bring your own score, or hire one for a small fee.

George Nicholson – Conductor
Tom Corns – Organ

Tickets £10 including mince pies and mulled wine. Under 16s accompanied by an adult FREE Tickets available on the door.
