HANDEL – MESSIAH

Handel’s majestic Messiah needs no introduction and forms an essential art of the Christmas celebrations for many people. Make it part of yours in the marvellous setting of Sheffield’s wonderful Cutler’s Hall. But hurry – tickets are selling fast!

Composed in 1741 with text from the Bible, Messiah was first performed in Dublin in 1742 and has been performed countless times the world over ever since – including every three years by Sheffield Bach Choir, whose mastery of the work is legendary.

Make your Christmas celebrations complete by joining the choir, the National Festival Orchestra and a team of stunning soloists for this very special performance – there truly is nothing like hearing this magnificent choral work accompanied by a full orchestra, and in Sheffield’s historic Cutler’s Hall, ‘where historic grandeur meets timeless elegance’ this will be an extra special experience!

Refreshments will be available from the Cutler’s Hall bar before the concert and during the interval. Please note that the bar takes card payments only.

Come Sing Handel’s Christmas Messiah

church-648430_1920Dust off your copy of Messiah and join us in St James’s Church Norton for this festive come-and-sing which always attracts a good crowd.

This jolly affair is conducted by the choir’s President Professor George Nicholson, with our conductor and Music Director Philip Collin on the organ.

With mulled wine and mince pies in the interval, this will be an evening to remember. Bring your own score, or hire one for a small fee.

Tickets will be available online and on the door, and include the mulled wine and mince pies.

Members of the choir will also be singing carols in The University Arms (197 Brook Hill) between 5.30 and 6.30 pm on Monday 15th December.
